Where Good Ideas Come From

Steven Johnson's thought on good ideas was pretty accurate in my opinion, especially when it comes to the concept of ideas forming over time. I agree that ideas can't just become a reality over night; there's more to it than that. I think good ideas come from the proper mindset. I think some people are better at making up ideas than others. Ideas also come form creativity, some of us have a lot of this and some don't. We're all human though, we'll have an idea eventually.

IMED FINAL

Team Members: Melissa Ramirez, Gabriela Santillan, Ciara West

Video:https://vimeo.com/113921550

Video: Our video is a mockumentary of any kind of national geographic kind of show. I filmed, edited, and did a voice over. Next time I would try to get someone more confident to speak. The easiest part was filming. The hardest part was probably the voice over because I get really embarrassed about the sort of stuff. I liked this project, but I wish we had more time.

How To: Marble Nails

Video by: Melissa Ramirez & Ciara West

Video Link: https://vimeo.com/112291384

Our video is a How To/DIY on how to create a marble nail design. I edited the actual footage, the only thing I would do differently is maybe a little extra filming of the final product at different angles and also a better search for music. The easiest part was inserting transitions, but the hardest part was getting it to meet my standards. I really liked editing overall though, so this was a cool project.

Wesite Review

Having made a website before hand definitely made the second creation seem easier; however, I again had issues with the transferring of the actual files to Filezilla. My logo and actual images, really everything that made the website look okay, decided to vanish upon moving it to a different location. The hardest part is keeping everything in one place and also keeping things permanent. Overall it was kind of a frustrating process, but it's fine.

Video Review/Web Progress

Video:

1. The video's technology was definitely amazing to even imagine; however, I do not think I could comfortably function in a world like that. It seemed true human interaction was taken away from that world. In addition, the fact that sight had a possibility of temporarily crashing seemed way too scary to even test. That and the manipulation, also pretty frightening. There were some aspects I do wish existed, such as the introduction to the video. If gaming became that advanced I would definitely get on board with that, and the fridge/cooking idea seemed so fun. In the end, no I don't think I could live that way 100%, but there were a few things I definitely wouldn't mind.

2. With the way things are going, I'd say we have a pretty good chance of getting to that level of technology if we really tried to strive for it. I think, however, that only the extremely wealthy would be able to obtain such a tool.

Website Progress:

I don't exactly know how I would do on my own. I assumed this template was temporary. I think when I get around to making my own site, I will be a lot worse off.

Future Website

Theme:
I plan to design a website for a fictional business in the field of baking, my dream career. Although I would love to be a dentist, one of the main reasons is due to their automatic success. The bakery industry, on the other hand, is an iffy career, because you may or may not be successful.
Goals:

  • To create a visually appealing website
  • To make a fictional company as realistic as possible

Tips For A Quality Site

1. Publish High Quality Content: The idea is to not over do it with the updates, this site stated the most successful businesses only post around 24 posts a year.

2. Create Effortless, Predictable Navigation: This is pretty self explanatory, don't make your website too difficult to browse through.

3. Use quality graphics and photos, including Flash elements and photo slideshows. Poor photography can lead to less trust in what you're offering. Remember: a picture is worth 1,000 words: No one likes a plain website filled with text, a picture can help separate mass text amounts and also give the reader a visual look into your website intentions.

All the sites I posted as my Top 5 are great with the easy navigation aspect and high quality graphics and photos for the most part; however, they aren't experts when it comes to always publishing quality content. On the other hand, all of these websites are pretty successful and these recommendations were specifically targeting small businesses.

Website Opinions

My Top 5
1. http://allrecipes.com/recipes/
I love baking. This website always features really great recipes for cupcakes, and the comments always help with any alterations I need to make to create an even better delicacy.
2. http://www.youtube.com/
Honestly, I like this website solely due to the entertainment it provides me.

3. http://www.6pm.com/
This is the best site to purchase discontinued or really popular shoes at a huge discount.

4. https://www.petfinder.com/
I just like browsing this website for fun. I'm excited for the day I can actually use this website to seriously look into adoption.

5. https://www.tumblr.com/dashboard
This social media-ish site is an emotional explosion, don't really know how to describe it, but I love it.

5 Bad Website Examples
1. http://mamascheesies.com/
2. http://www.irishwrecksonline.net/
3. http://www2.warnerbros.com/spacejam/movie/jam.htm
4. http://www.ragdoll-cats.com/history.htm
