I plan to design a website for a fictional business in the field of baking, my dream career. Although I would love to be a dentist, one of the main reasons is due to their automatic success. The bakery industry, on the other hand, is an iffy career, because you may or may not be successful.
Goals:
- To create a visually appealing website
- To make a fictional company as realistic as possible
1.
Publish High Quality Content: The idea is to not over do it with the
updates, this site stated the most successful businesses only post
around 24 posts a year.
2.
Create Effortless, Predictable Navigation: This is pretty self
explanatory, don't make your website too difficult to browse through.
3. Use quality graphics and photos, including Flash elements and photo
slideshows. Poor photography can lead to less trust in what you're
offering. Remember: a picture is worth 1,000 words: No one likes a plain website filled with text, a picture can help separate mass text amounts and also give the reader a visual look into your website intentions.
All the sites I posted as my Top 5 are great with the easy navigation aspect and high quality graphics and photos for the most part; however, they aren't experts when it comes to always publishing quality content. On the other hand, all of these websites are pretty successful and these recommendations were specifically targeting small businesses.
My Top 5
1. http://allrecipes.com/recipes/
I love baking. This website always features really great recipes for cupcakes, and the comments always help with any alterations I need to make to create an even better delicacy.
2. http://www.youtube.com/
Honestly, I like this website solely due to the entertainment it provides me.
3. http://www.6pm.com/
This is the best site to purchase discontinued or really popular shoes at a huge discount.
4. https://www.petfinder.com/
I just like browsing this website for fun. I'm excited for the day I can actually use this website to seriously look into adoption.
5. https://www.tumblr.com/dashboard
This social media-ish site is an emotional explosion, don't really know how to describe it, but I love it.
5 Bad Website Examples
